and the wiener is........!

A long, long time ago, my family fell in love with a little daschund named Fatzi.  She has always remained a special part of our family and many of my friends have to come to share these same emotions.  You see a wiener dog - you know who it looks like..... F-a-t-z-i!  So when Kortney and Kai invited me to the Oktoberfest wiener dog races... they were making dreams come true.
I have never seen so many wiener dogs - every color, every size, long hair, short hair - it was wiener dog heaven!
While standing in line to get in, a lady approaches us about Ula (Kai's dog, a Red Blood Hound) and asks if she would like to be in the races.  We had no idea what to expect and neither did Ula.  Out of the gates, people booed and said she was cheating.... little did they know she would just stand there and look at people.  She eventually made it to the end and although might not have won the race.. she is always a wiener in our eyes!!
(she is in the far lane wearing a pink harness)
Here is Ula with some of her competition.
Then it was off to the adult quarters of the event where we enjoyed some good beer, music and the POLKA!
And we also enjoyed ourselves a lil lederhosen!

a few of my favorite things......

Off to Colorado again! Spent the first night with two of my favorite people, Valecia and Shannon! Good conversation and along with a few drinks to celebrate some beautiful women and their independence :)

We met up with Shane, Sheila and Jenny (friends from Utah who moved to Denver) who took us out on the town. Sooo much fun!

and as always, no trip would be complete without a couple of nights of Phish.
1st night forgot the camera. lame sauce.
But Phish did not disappoint of course.... I sure did shake my boo-tay!
 i love this place.

sittin on the dock of the bay

literally....
On Sunday, Tom and I ventured down to Long Beach to have breakfast and watch the Broncos with our friends, Joe and Sarah.  After the win, we were off to a boat (uugghh) where Christine and Chris joined us. I instantly got a lil nervous because I have yet to be victorious with the open waters of the Pacific Ocean.  To my delight, Sarah has some sensitive sea legs as well, so she pulled her weight with Joe and we got to stay in the harbor.  Even better, we never left the dock!  We had everything we needed - Good friends, beer, snacks and sunshine for the rest of the afternoon.
I could do this every Sunday.  Hopefully the owner of the boat won't mind his new deckhands.
Finally a boating excursion I can handle!!
