Tom and I returned from our vacation and needed some rest and relaxation. So Friday was going to be our quick, clean the house night so we could watch a movie and fall asleep at 9.
But because Tom is the best boyfriend in the world, the house was already clean when I got home from work. <3! There was also a pizza in the oven. No cooking necessary.
We were just moments away from the couch when screeching tires and sirens ripped through the neighborhood.
But they didn’t leave. They stayed. On our street.
We had no idea what was happening. We were told to stay in our houses and lock the doors. So everyone went out on their porches to watch some sort of manhunt go down.
The police helicopter even showed up.
Our viewing spot for the showdown.
The canine unit arrived and was talking to the bad guys over the loud speaker asking them nicely to surrender.
They did not. So out with the dog. They went to every house and searched the yard saying, “This is your last chance, if you give yourself up now you will not be harmed. If not, I will release the dog and he will bite you. You will be hurt.” The dog would go sniff out the yards and then the cops would go in after.
It was a very long process and we eventually lost interest. Hours later and one man still on the loose (five were caught) the cops decided to call it a night. They knew the perpetrator so it was only a matter of time. BUT WAIT! They saw something - On the ground in between two of the houses…. A guy in a really nice shirt. Why would he be laying down if he wasn’t the robber? They stopped and BAM! Mystery solved. Turns out the trouble maker had been hiding out INside our neighbor’s basement apartment. But when the kid came home to shower for a Friday night out on the town, the burglar decided to borrow a button down and make a run for it…..
He didn’t get far.
Bad Boys, Bad Boys….
Here is the article from the Daily Breeze.
