have a heart... or maybe just a party.....

Since moving to the Hollywood Hills, my roommate Will and I have wanted to throw a "house-warming" party to celebrate. We never got around to it - but with the addition of another new roommate, Dona and Valentine's fast approaching, we decided what better way to celebrate but to finally have our party..  Of course, the first people I invite are Matt and Valecia - I wanted to give them a lil notice so they could buy their tickets.. And per usual, they did! I picked them up at the airport on Friday night and we cruised up to the house to meet up with my roommates and Kortney and Kai.  We had a great evening chatting on my beloved front porch.
The next day was all business - or at least it was supposed to be...
Breakfast first - of course they have the bottomless mimosa special that we love so much.

And of course, they have red bandanas for sale and of course, Baleash bought one.

And of course, they have a bull......
Matt, Kai and I were up for the challenge.
I have videos but for some reason they won't upload... if I ever figure it out, I will post :)
Yes, I am wearing a skirt.. True cowgirls wear black mini-skirts.
So after our western breakfast extravangaza, we actually did have a lot of work to do..  First things first, a grand ol' tree like the one that stands in my front yard must have lights and must have them up all year round... ps. buy white lights at christmas time - I couldn't find them anywhere.. I went on a mad mission through my storage unit and finally found my xmas decorations containing strings upon strings of lights... SCORE!  So we sent Matt and Kai high up into the branches..
I helped too or tried to anyways.....
And because our maid decided to skip town and go to Vegas (what?) Valecia and Kortney cleaned the entire house... V taking a break from the scrub down.
Kai did have some fun amid all of his work duties....
And done.... love it :)
So after the lights were finished as well as the majority of the work - we found some time to play - Valecia decided that for a Valentine's Day party one must wear red eye shadow..  I think this is honestly the first time I have ever put make-up on Kortney in our 21 year friendship...
Kai taking over the duties...
Our masterpiece!
And whoever did that to me?
But back to work aka twisting napkins - a technique I picked up years ago at the Canyons. The girls were worried I was going to drop them - I told them not to worry and I hold up my finished product... the perfect napkin tower. and then BAM. i dropped it :)
It was then time for the real party (also time to take the red eye shadow off) and apparently not many pictures were taken.
But it was a success! A bunch of people came - will's peeps, neighborhood peeps, dona's peeps, my peeps, work peeps, a lot of really great peeps.
Of course, a little later at night, my group snuck up to the balcony for some quality alone time.

oh my sweet valentine's, how do I heart thee?
